SOUTHERN PINE SNAKE

PITUOPHIS MELANOLEUCUS MUGITUS

The Southern Pine snake also known as the Florida Pine snake has the least distinct patterning and colouration mainly light colour individuals with darker saddles running along the back but also some that the pattern appears almost patternless.

There are a few colour morphs of the Southern pine snake, these being patternless and Leucistic. There is an albino version but the validity has always been in question, the first Albino pine snake was bred in captivity from a wild caught female that was found in Ocean county, New Jersey home to the Northern pine snake - it was believed that later on this line was used in the Southern form to produce this morph!

I currently have the pale grey patterned Florida Pine snake, patternless and Leucistic in my collection - all are beautiful snakes in there own right
